Liverpool has many reasons to be proud of its unrivalled position in British football, especially the EIGHTEEN Championships, the SIX FA Cups, SEVEN League Cups and THREE UEFA Cups, but in particular the astonishing achievement of FOUR European Cup wins stands out as something that is recognised the world over as truly remarkable!
Looking at the cups brings back memories of the great cup final nights and the exhilaration felt across the city and the nation as Liverpool marched across Europe into the record books!

On this occasion a visit to the FABULOUS Anfield arena saw Liverpool triumph over the ill-tempered and ragged Chelsea courtesy of David Thompson's first Liverpool league goal. This saw Chelsea's wretched Anfield record worsen (only one Anfield win in 64 YEARS to their credit!) in a niggly game that saw two of the visitors' players, Marcel Desailly and Denis Wise, dismissed after their excessive frustrations were taken out on the Liverpool players.
There can be no doubt that Liverpool had toiled with tremendous gusto to negate the offensive qualities of Chelsea, particularly through the outstanding Danny Murphy. They also countered impressively with the dangerous forays of Vladimir Smicer down the left.
Liverpool could even afford the luxury of an embarrassing 75th-minute penalty miss by Michael Owen, of all people, as they drove a hugely disappointing Chelsea along the road to ruin. ALL IN ALL A TREMENDOUS VICTORY FOR THE TRAVELLING PARTY!!!
